DockPower provides enough power to operate domestic systems on boats fitted with additional features such as air conditioning and electric galleys which have previously been a challenge for boatbuilders.
With most moorings in Europe being limited to 32 amps (7.5 kw) builders previously have had to look at installing two shore cords to increase overall capacity. This requires the AC boat systems to be split into two groups with a split power bus. The split bus solution works well provided the loads can be easily split or easily predicted. As the overall demand gets nearer to the limit it is quite usual for 1 cord to be overloaded and the other underloaded.
The DockPower range from Energy Solutions avoids this problem completely. The unit accepts two separate feeds from the shore and combines them into a single supply for the boat.
The DockPower frequency converter will accept any input voltage between 180 - 260 volts and input frequencies of either 50 or 60 Hz.
Additional technical information
The DockPower unit offers a number of other vital safety features:
It incorporates full isolation transformer functionality for both shore cords
It checks that both shore cords are of the correct voltage and phase before connecting them on board
If only one dockside outlet is available it will just connect to one supply.
If one of the dockside supplies trips or is disconnected the unit immediately disconnects that cord to ensure voltage is not backfed to the male plug.
It also addresses some key concerns for vessel owners:
Provides galvanic isolation from the marina supply eliminating concerns about corrosion due to stray earth current.
Worldwide connectivity with DockPower’s universal input allowing owners to plug in anywhere - Europe, Carribean, USA etc
DockPower will condition poor local supplies to give precisely regulated voltage onboard helping with low voltage problems at marina berths.
