Sonnenschein batteries, with their extremely long life span are ideal for use in demanding marine and mobile applications. With capacities available up to 3000 Ah, high capacity requirements can be accommodated without resorting to excessive parralleling. The gelled electrolyte re-absorbs the small amount of gas evolved during charging. This means a safer battery. Because the electrolyte is gelled the battery is spill and leak proof, aiding installation in awkward areas. Being maintenance free, neglect through lack of servicing is a thing of the past.
